The Vietnamese Peoples Heavy Metal...PAVN 76's

Howdy folks,

A couple weeks back I was able to finish off a 5 tank company of PT-76 amphibious tanks that I plan on using for Flames of War and Force on Force.  They will work very well with some Main Force or North Vietnamese Regulars.

They painted up very nicely...didn't take too long.  If I recall correctly, I sprayed them in flat black and then took Vallejo 924 Russian Uniform as their base coat.  I didn't bother shading the 924 down, but instead, after looking at the Battlefront painting guide in the Tour of Duty book, I took a 50/50 mix of Vallejo Russian Uniform and Desert Yellow (917...?).  I really liked how it came out...I did the standard gunmetal with the tracks and then hit them with Flat Earth, a wash of Strong Tone, and then US Tan Earth.

I think that covered it nicely.

Take care...enjoy the pics.

Some progress on the 'nam...Main Force Vietnamese

Howdy folks,

One of the many tasks that I had been procrastinating on was completing the basing for my main force Vietnamese guerillas.  Why you may ask? M'eh...it seems to be one of my strongpoints, lol.  Anyway, I thought I'd just get my progress out there in the online 'verse.

I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out...the flock and colours look great and I think they could fit in pretty much anywhere in the Nam...as well, the army painter jungle clumps look really cool...and, I'm getting much better at using them.

Cheers.

The overall force so far...not enough for some Flames of War, but I think enough for a game of FoF Ambush Alley...

The Battalion command with recoilless rifles...

First 'company'...RPG teams with AK-47 teams...more to come!!

Second company...just the RPG teams so far.

Back to the 'Nam...Resistance Teams

Howdy everyone,

While I haven't been very active on 'the internets' over the past month or so, I have been working through the mountain of lead that is my workbench, in particular getting through my Main Force VC and enemy force for my Air Cav troops.

My first objective was to finish up some resistance teams...these look like an interesting force option for Flames of War and make the Free World forces jump through some hoops to clear them from the field.  IIRC they also provide some eyes on the ground for the Main Force VC commander.  For Force on Force and Ambush Alley, these stands will work as clusters of civilians for various scenarios.

I modeled mine after a combination of settings (paddies and village road)...there are some figs harvesting rice and there are many figures just working about looking 'inconspicuous'...I used some google-fu to get some rice paddy pictures and started from there.  The main challenge was building the paddy dikes and choosing the right type/combo of flock to simulate rice fields.

This was also the first time I'd used the Army Painter jungle clumps of grass...I like how they turned out and I do like how they changed up each of the bases.

As well, at the bottom I've included a quick preview of 13 other stands that are now just waiting for basing...

Enjoy and as always, advice and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

7 resistance teams...I have about 5 more that I will eventually finish.

Just some farmers off to the market or back from the fields with bundles of rice and firewood...
Working the fields...

Nothing to see here GI...nothing at all...

The Preview...

Command teams for the Battalion and 2 companies...RPG teams for both companies as well as recoiless rifle teams for the Battalion HQ...just waiting for the flock...
