Hey folks,
Just a quick post today...I appreciate the advice and views from yesterday. I thought I'd follow up with a test pic...here are the bases completed with using paint only. I took the pics from my normal shooting area with my iPhone:
Here is one of the bases with flock...thoughts:

Looks much better to me.
Maybe leave a touch more of the base exposed.
I like it! It's a personal preference thing; have you considered leaving the bases' lips all one colour?
Looks beautiful, no doubt!
I'm in the little less flock camp but only because the painted bases look much better in these latest shots. Re. painting the base rims, I rather like the way they currently blend in but then again a uniform rim has a quality all of it's own :)
I think that they look good either way but maybe try flock that is a bit "grassier"?
Thanks Mike.
Thanks Barks. Normally I try to leave the lips for all the bases uniform whether by flock or colour. The FJ's that I just finished and have yet to post are all US Tan Earth, looking at my Blues and it looks like I have a lot of flock around the edges...I'll have to take another look. Cheers.
Thank you Phil
Thanks Ragsta...I definitely like how the bases look in the later shots...I'm with you, its a tough call between blending and uniformity.
Cheers.
Thanks Duncan...I looked at some army painter tufts but wasn't sure how they would fit with the base colouring...I'll save them for my Main Force VC...as far as grassier, I hope I've got it covered, but we'll see.
I tried to 'paint' on the glue and then selectively apply the flock...I think it turned out really well and would definitely attempt this in the future.
Looks good! Just remember charlie don't surf.
